George Huguely guilty of second-degree murder

23.02.2012
A jury here on Wednesday evening convicted George Huguely V of second-degree murder in the 2010 death of his onetime girlfriend Yeardley Love after about nine hours of deliberations.
Huguely faces up to 40 years in prison on the murder charge; the jury immediately began to consider Huguely’s sentence.
The verdict came after a two-week trial that centered on only about 10 minutes in Love’s apartment during the couple’s senior year at the University of Virginia. Huguely kicked through her locked bedroom door and fought with her in a final attempt to discuss their relationship. Love, 22, of Cockeysville, Md. was found dead hours later.
