Indonesia : A-G, ACA, POLICE to talk corruption

12.03.2012
The Attorney General’s Office (AGO), the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the National Police held a joint coordination meeting on corruption eradication in Indonesia at the AGO headquarters on Monday.
The AGO was represented by Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Andi Nirwanto, the KPK by deputy chairman Zulkarnain and the National Police by detective deputy chief Insp. Gen. Bekto Suprapto.
Andi told reporters that the meeting did not specifically discuss certain corruption cases, but rather corruption in general.
“The purpose of the meeting was to unify our views so that we can eradicate corruption together as per our respective authorities and duties,” Andi told The Jakarta Post at the AGO headquarters.
Andi said that the meeting had established a small team to coordinate further about 10 points of corruption vulnerability. The three institutions have also ratified a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on corruption eradication – renewing the 2005’s MoU which he said was already too old.
Similar to Andi, Zulkarnain of the KPK said that the meeting was focused on renewing the KPK’s cooperation with the AGO and National Police.
“Please support us,” Zulkarnain said.
Leaders of the three law enforcement agencies are scheduled to hold a summit on March 29.
