The Jakarta Police announced on Friday it would immediately introduce compulsory drug tests for its officers as a part of internal anti-drug campaign.
"Police officers in all unit levels must undergo the tests. They will be held at random without any prior notification," Jakarta police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said on Friday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
In the past week, Jakarta Police have arrested and suspended three police officers -- Cibarusah police chief Adj. Comr. Heru Budhi Sutrisno, South Jakarta Police's women and children unit head First Insp. Rita and an officer with Jakarta Police's planning and administration unit, Brig. Sahala Simbolon, for allegedly possessing illegal drugs.
