Iran parliament questions President Ahmadinejad

14.03.2012
Iran's parliament began questioning President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday over a list of accusations, including mismanagement of the country’s economy. Some deputies also accuse the president of challenging the country's supreme leader. Ahmadinejad's opponent, conservative lawmaker Ali Motahari, posed the questions to him in an open session of parliament broadcast live on state radio. This is the first such summons for a president since the 1979 revolution. Ahmadinejad has recently come under attack from hardliners backing Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
