An 18-year-old student from the small town of Safonovo in Russia's Smolensk Region has been crowned Miss Russia. As well as the coveted title, the beauty wins a tiara worth $1 million – the most valuable in any beauty pageant anywhere in the world.

Elizaveta Golovanova also received a $100,000 grant, enabling her to study at any college on planet.

But first and foremost, throughout the year, she will have to serve as Russia's beauty ambassador at international beauty pageants, such as Miss World and Miss Universe.
