Egyptian Authorities say presidential elections will be held in the first week of June. "The election will start in the first days of June and will end in the last week of June if there is a run-off," said a member of the presidential election committee, Ahmed Shams El-Din, as cited by AFP. The nominations for the race would be accepted for three weeks starting from March 10. Egypt ’s Supreme Council of the Armed Forces set itself a deadline for the transfer of power to civilian rule by the end of June 2012. Army leaders faced street protests with activists pushing for an immediate transfer of power. The presidential election timetable is due to be announced later today.
