The government is relaxing the criteria for families to enjoy subsidies for home- and community-based services.
The qualifying per capita income will be raised from S$1,400 to S$2,200.
This should cover two-thirds of households.
Subsidies will be raised to as much as 80 per cent, with the middle-income seeing the highest increase.
The Ministry of Health (MOH), which announced the changes on Monday, hopes the move will provide support for more elderly Singaporeans to be cared for at home.
The changes are expected to take effect from the third quarter of 2012.
